IMHO...

It seems like lately there have been a few deaths that have really created a buzz on MyFace. I've been seeing a lot of people posting things like "RIP Famous Person's Name Here." Am I the only person who finds this odd? Growing up it seems like the only place I saw RIP was on Halloween tombstone decorations and cheesy cartoons. I guess it must be because I associate the acronym with things like Casper the Friendly Ghost and October 31st, it seems odd and somehow not very meaningful to say "RIP" to anyone. I guess posting RIP as a MyFace status is up there with having "In Memory" stickers on the back window of your mini van. I don't get it. But it is meaningful to some people. And who am I to criticize their expression, I suppose...
